On September 19, at the Publishers’ Forum in Lviv, STEM is FEM project and the Vikhola Publishing House organized a discussion “This is not true: how Ukrainian women scientists refute stereotypes”.

During the event, analyst Kateryna Zarembo together with scientists Kateryna Shavanova, Natalia Atamas, Olga Maslova, Olena Pareniuk discussed popular myths and stereotypes that women often face.

“I was pleased and honored to sit among these smart, successful, witty women (of whom I was the only one to represent the social sciences, while other speakers specialized in the natural sciences, so it was especially nice to go beyond my bubble), who humorously talked about stereotypes. Many speeches and stereotypes touched on the topic of motherhood (“How do you work with radiation? You still have to give birth!”; “Teaching is a good job for a woman because of long vacations”). Of course, there are a lot of purely “professional” stereotypes. “- Kateryna Zarembo told.
